Agriculture scientists and policy makers are of the opinion that paddy cultivation is not profitable in the present time. Moreover, it is a water & labour intensive crop. Farmers trained by Goseva Parivar are gradually realizing that fruit plantation is far more economically lucrative with a stable income. Therefore,Gram Samriddhi is promoting and helping farmers to partially shift from paddy cultivation to organic fruit tree plantation by educating them about the technical know-how, providing financial support and arrangement of good quality fruit saplings. The survival rate of the trees planted under this project is very high because the farmers are the beneficiary as well as the owner and the caretaker of the saplings.
Since 2019, we have so far planted more than 2,50,000 fruit trees in the farms of 7000 farmers from 750 villages of West Bengal.
Rural-households still can’t afford the LPG cylinders to fulfill their fuel requirements. Many of them have to go to the nearby forests and fell trees for fuel. A considerable time and effort is wasted in this. On the other hand cow-dung is freely available in most of these households which is underutilized. This underutilized resource can be converted in a clean and green fuel with the help of biogas plants.
Based on our assessment of the household, we provide financial as well as technical support to the households for setting up a biogas plant. Every such household is also trained about the use of biogas plant.
Nearly 50% of the agricultural land has no irrigation facility or availability of water for farming in non-rainy seasons hence farming is not possible in non-rainy season resulting in poverty and scarcity. If the farmers are supported and educated about the rain-water harvesting techniques, they can earn more from their farmland.
Every household is trained and motivated about the benefits of RWHR. We provide technical as well as financial support to all these households for setting up a RWHR.
